i saw a rumor a few weeks ago on reddit that the new imitate jesus convention is supposed to present new light and clarified understandings on the disfellowshipping/disassociation practices.. supposedly, if this rumor has any truth to it, there will be a talk given at the convention about how we should not be strict like the pharisees in how we shun people, loosening up some of the jw rules about this practice.. has anyone here heard anything about this or have more info on it?.

There is No way anyone in their right mind believe shunning is a loving
provision. The problem with sunning today is in our society it is out of
step its barbaric. We are become more humane, we have animals right
groups, Gay rights, tree rights you name it we are becoming more compassionate.
I believe the Mormons have eased up on their shunning.

Poztate: Yes I remember that "associate with family members as long as you had no
religious interchange". A sister in the congregation who was married to a
unbelieving mate, her daughter and family moved into the area. Her daughter
was DF, so the sister husband came to me a ask what's the deal. My wife
will not speak to our daughter, she is acting very cold. The daughter was married
and two kids. The sister came to me and ask, what should I do? We are told
to shun DF ones, I'm not sure what to do. I was in my 30's and the sister was
in her 50's. I told her talk to your daughter. This was in the mid 80's..

people there is not one JW that is in the position to judge someone, all the

The only reason my family is fanatical shunners is because they
believe I put a end to my other family members becoming JW's
There is a shunning to a certain extent toward family members that are not
JW's. I have a niece and a nephew that live one block apart, they grew up
together. The niece and her family JW, my nephew and his family non-JW.
They have lived in the same neighborhood for over 15-20 years. She have
never set foot in his house, he said he have only seen her a few times
over the years in passing. So they feel they are being shunned also.

I'm sorry but this subject just chap my rear.
When my ex-JW wife and her JW husband is in town they stay with
my baby brother an JW elder. My non-JW family do not understand,
how the hell can he(my brother) justify that kind of love they ask.
We have been divorce for over 20 years so for over 20 they have stayed
numerous times with my brother and his wife, me it's been over 20 years
since I was invited into his home.
You talking about breaking up families, that cult has devastated our family.
If they stop the shunning I don't think it will make a difference in my family.

I was DF. At that time I realized it wash't the truth and no way was I
going back, (1987)... My family members are insane door knockers.
Their shunning has turn to hate over the years.

I have had JW family members come to my home when I was still
married to my JW wife come to my door and not acknowledge me,
just walk right pass me as if I was invisible. My wife tell me dear would you
mind excusing yourself and go to the bedroom.
I have come to the aid of my sister when her car broke down, took her
home but I couldn't set foot into her home. That same sister left instructions
before she died, for me not to visit her.
My oldest daughter (20 years since I've seen her) at one time lived a few blocks
from me, she told me Dad you are not welcome in my home. Other family
members that I have seen over the years, look the other way.
Hell I'm not a glutton for punishment, 28 years of this craziness
I don't have that kind of forgiveness.
My niece speaking to her seven year old daughter, mother who was that
man you smile at. Oh that's your uncle.(d) My uncle, where does he live?
